Exploration permits are in place and a program of core drilling and other geological investigations is underway. The current Heatherdale exploration program expects to complete 25,000 feet of underground delineation drilling, and is focused on the expansion of a new precious metals enriched mineral body recently discovered to the southwest of the Lookout Deposit.
The current program has benefitted from a 2,800-foot underground development drive and 500 feet of crosscuts completed in 2008 at a cost of US $10 million. While only 28 underground holes were completed to the end of 2008, the last two intersected significant zones of high-grade, precious metals enhanced mineralization, including:
Assay results from the first six holes of the current underground drilling have confirmed the presence of significant high-grade precious metals enriched mineralization.
- UO27, which intersected 15 feet grading 3.06% copper, 6.57 g/t gold, 18.51% zinc and 101 g/t silver; and,
- UO28, which intersected 258 feet grading 1.89% copper, 4.83 g/t gold, 4.93% zinc and 85.31 g/t silver.
